Introduction Speaker and PERFECT Speaker

The introduction speech of the UTPC 2017 will be given by Prof. Dr. habil. Holger Schiele from the University of Twente.

Prof. Dr. habil. Holger Schiele has worked for several international companies, gaining ten years of practical experience in the department of corporate development at Preussag AG, as consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers and h&z business consulting, where, alongside his habilitation, he worked as a project manager for six years. In 2009, Holger Schiele was appointed as chair of the now called Department of Technology Management and Supply at the University of Twente and acts as patron of the UTPC. Recent research projects he supervised evolve around customer attractiveness, supplier satisfaction and preferred customer status, next to global sourcing and innovative regional clusters. An underlying theme is the purchasing – R&D collaboration and the pursuit of innovations from and with suppliers. Education: After a bank apprenticeship, Holger Schiele studied business administration and economics in Maastricht and Hannover. He obtained both his PhD and his habilitation from Leibniz Universität Hannover.

 

The speech from PERFECT will be given by Stephen Kelly with the title “Implementing purchasing skills development programs and purchasing role models”

 

Stephen Kelly is currently a Senior Lecturer in the School of Business, Leadership and Economics at Staffordshire University in the UK, where he teaches and researches in Purchasing & Supply Management, Operations Management and Project Management. He is currently working on an EU ERASMUS+ funded project – PEREFCT- developing a harmonised pan-European Purchasing curriculum with the Universities of Dortmund, Mainz, Twente and Lappeenranta. His current research focuses on supplier perceptions of buying processes, the supply chains of festivals and purchasing and supply management education. He is the co-founder and organiser of the annual IPSERA (International Purchasing and Supply Education and Research Association) Educator’s Conference and is an IPSERA executive committee member. He  has a PhD in Management Science from Lancaster University, is a member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (MCIPS), a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a reviewer for the Journal of Purchasing & Supply Management. Before his academic career, he worked for over 10 years in a variety of purchasing and supply chain roles for organisations such as Siemens, GEC and the NHS.
